After a disappointing loss to Hall 5 in their earlier softball match, Hall 7 needed to win this tie in order to have a chance of progressing. The intensified training that followed paid off with a near-perfect rout of Hall 14.
Hall 7's players batted first, and in the first inning, the team scored 7 runs in their offensive half. Excellent batting enabled player after player to home runs - only 2 were elminated. In the return half, Hall 14 were unable to score any runs.
It was more of the same in the second inning, only this time, none of Hall 7's players were put out and they extended their lead by another 7 runs. Some tricky pitching by Meng Heng in the second half ensured that all of the opponents players were struck out.
In the final inning, Hall 14 switched pitchers in an attempt to narrow the scoreline. The move backfired however, as the new pitcher played several successive poor balls and allowed Hall 7's players to walk. The latter completed another perfect half without any eliminations. Hall 14 sportingly played their batting half, even though their players could not improve their tally.
Even though Hall 7 comprehensively outshown Hall 14 by 21 runs to none in the end, the match was played in good spirits. Hall 7 will face Hall 5 once again in the next match, with an eye on progressing to the next round and vindicating their earlier defeat to the same opponents.
Final score: Hall Seven 21, Hall Fourteen 0
