NETBALLERS ADVANCE TO QUARTER-FINALS

Charmain concentrating on putting in a goal

44. That is the number that indicates Hall 7’s winning margin over Hall 12. The Hall 7 netballers maintained their winning ways despite missing main players such as Siqi and Yimin, both overseas, and Yizhen, who was injured in the previous match against Hall 3.

The first two quarters saw Hall 7 put in a total of 24 goals. Goal attack Zhi Yen, who played netball in junior college, did exceptionally well with her accurate long lobs to Charmain, who was at least a head taller than her defenders.

Credit should also go Hall 7’s defenders as they held Hall 12’s attackers to only 2 goals for the entire game. Goal-keeper, Viona, was alert for every rebound and did well to bring the ball down midfield for the feeders to pass to Charmain.

The third quarter also saw Jean, more affectionately known as “Mama Jean” within the team, switch from centre to goal defence; hence, contributing to Hall 12’s limited attacking chances.
Hall 7 netballers look to be in tip-top condition to advance to the semi-finals. With breadth and depth in the team, they appear to be one of the hot favourites to book a place in the finals.

Final score: 46-2
